MBM003 - Youandewan - Sub Rosa EP

This release has received some great feedback from Radio 1's Mary Anne Hobbs, Nic Fanciuilli's Worldwide sounds show amongst many other shows around the world.. An overwhelming amount of DJ support can be read below including comments from DJ Hell, Ellen Allien, Marco Corola, 2000 and one + many more.

Succinctly sublime and merging the warmth of house into the fire of techno, this collection of tracks shows the natural flair of this rising star. Gems like ‘Dsico’ and ‘Gloaming’ unite luscious pads with swirling rhythms, while ‘Movin’ shows a more stripped back and groove-led side to Youandewan’s productions.

dOP have been hailed as one of the hottest production outfits to emerge recently with releases on Circus Company, Simple and Tuning Spork. Youandewan’s dub of their ‘Lighthouse’ release makes it onto this package to amplify the original and shows his ability to reinterpret and define current sounds.

Youandewan AKA Ewan Smith was born on the skirts of Granite City, at the outer reaches of Scotland. This remote and often grey environment didn’t give much in the way of nightlife but despite that Youandewan developed a dexterous love for music. After leaving school he fled to the club destination and techno hub of the North, Leeds, and set about carving his own take on the trend and burgeoning career.

Ewan rapidly began making his mark on the scene, releasing various debut EP's on local and European labels. Most notably his ‘Anjou’ EP which attained the no.1 spot in the Beatport Chill Out Chart for 8 weeks and no.10 in Deep House respectively. His subsequent releases received further opulence and with each additional production his sound grew more strength and originality.

A meet with the affluent and ever growing enterprise of Wax:On and introduction to their predominant sidekick brand, Magicbag Music, fashioned an apt match and the coming years look set to be an interesting and foremost exciting time for Youandewan.

Magicbag have thus far delivered two samplers of music, unleashing the repertoire of their family of artists. Their experience putting together some of the UK’s leading events has brought some exciting artists to their attention and through the label they intend to develop and let loose the best of their abilities.
