Wax:On News | Tensnake Interview | Ahead of his appearance at Wax:On
Leeds looks like the place to be this weekend! Arguably the biggest party of the month lands in the city tomorrow night when Wax:On host one of their loudest parties yet at Leeds University Union (26th February). As well as sets from Annie Mac, Benga, Andy C and The Magician, you can also catch Mixmag favourite Tensnake performing live. Currently finishing off a special vinyl box set release, Marco took time out to answer a few quick questions for us.
Q:What drew you to the appendage "Tensnake"
A: "There is no big story behind it. It is just a silly word creation. I was searching for A: something unique so people can remember it easily. And all the nature lovers like it too ;-)"
Q: What is your musical "guilty pleasure"?
A: "Not sure if I define the music I like as being a guilty pleasure, but my iTunes is telling me I listened a lot to Rihanna lately"
Q: What is your favourite gig venue and why?
A: "Hard to say, there have been so many. I played Koko last weekend which is a pretty great venue. I also really enjoyed playing at a sunny beach festival in Perth a few weeks ago. There is also pretty small club which I love for the vibe and the dry and direct sound: Plastic People in London."
Q: Any productions coming out in the near future and who would you love to work
with on a record?
A: "My Hercules And Love Affair remix comes out very soon! After that you should look out for a very limited edition Tensnake box set which I am producing with the Vinyl Factory team."
Q: What gets you up in the morning?
A: "My alarm clock, a strong black coffee and "I'll Take Care Of You" by Gil Scott Heron & Jamie XX"
Q: What keeps you awake at night?
A: "Never-ending studio sessions, discovering music on Youtube and my friends."
Q: Which actor would play you in a film about your life?
A: "There can only be one: Kurt Russel as Snake Plissken."
